All-Season Window Insulation Made Simple
To install, apply the EcoTec Multifoil Insulation directly to your window frame using the Thermaseal Double-Sided Tape provided.
For the best results, create a small air gap (20–25mm) between the insulation and the glass or frame. This enhances heat reflection, prevents cold bridging, and improves overall insulation performance — keeping your windows warmer and your rooms more comfortable even during winter.
For a subtler finish, you can position the insulation behind blinds or curtains, or install it flush against the frame. Alternatively, leave it visible — a practical option for areas such as conservatories, workshops, and garden rooms.

If you’re simply looking to improve energy efficiency, reduce drafts, and maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, we’d recommend using the EcoTec Window Insulation Kit. It’s designed to help prevent heat loss through windows, reduce condensation, and protect your space from external temperature changes and the elements.
Do I need to tape and seal the insulation?
Yes, we recommend taping and sealing over all joints and overlaps on the roof and walls. This will help the products to act as a high-performing vapor control layer. However, if you’re insulating the floor, you still need to tape and seal the perimeter but leave the overlaps un-taped, this will ensure any moisture will escape below.
Why do I need to overlap the insulation?
The insulation should be overlapped by 50mm because this will stop draughts from entering the space and warm air from escaping.
Do I need to leave an air gap?
This is not essential for this application - however, we do recommend that you have a minimum air gap of 25mm on either side of the insulation however if a larger air gap is present this will only benefit the insulation. The air gap will help reflect any heat inside and any cool air outside.
