SuperQuilt Pitched Roof

YBS SuperQuilt Insulation is fully certified (LABC, BDA and BBA) for insulating pitched roofs. It is most commonly installed beneith the rafters, internally before installing the plasterboard. It is commonly used to reduce both cost and head height.

Triple Layer to Achieve 0.18 U-value

SuperQuilt Pitched Roof | YBS SuperQuilt is commonly doubled up in pitched roof projects. By doubling up on the SuperQuilt Insulation you can  avoid using Rigid PIR Boards having to be installed in-between the rafters.

If a double solution solution is being used, please ensure there are adequate airspace’s between each layer. This enables the Multifoil Insulation to reflect and perform. Installing SuperQuilt over rafters is also a certified solution, if this method is being used, a vapour control layer should be fitted. This should be fitted behind the plasterboard, and will help to reduce any risk of condensation. It is however more common to install BreatherQuilt over rafter.

If you require a specific u-value required for the project? SuperQuilt for roofs is available in our 3 Layer ReRoof System or our TyvaQuilt system. Both these solutions achieve refurbishment & extension regulations without Celotex/Kingspan If you need to achieve an alternative u-value – you can visit our free to use online U-value Calculator.

How to Install

You can Install YBS SuperQuilt either vertically or horizontally – whichever way you prefer. Pull the insulation tight to compress the layers and then  stapled to battens/rafters. You should staple at minimum 300mm centres.

Ensure each layer of material overlaps by approx 50mm. Fully tape and seal using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape. Taping will ensure SuperQuilt works as a high performing vapour control layer (when it is the most internal insulation layer). Ensure that you have an air gap either side of the SuperQuilt to allow the product to reflect, if you fail to create an suitable cavity this can cause in a reduction of performance.

When SuperQuilt is taken down to the eaves, ensure the multifoil is cut around the rafters and sealed to the wall plate, or the cavity wall insulation.

Installation of YBS SuperQuilt over rafter or under rafter should be in harmony with the manufacturers certificate and recommendations.
